About Brad

As a Black Sash teacher of Shaolin Kung Fu, Brad seamlessly weaves Eastern intuitive insights with Western practicality. His holistic approach to transformation is a testament to his dedication to empowering others. Brad’s impact extends beyond martial arts; he served as the Executive Director of The Gatehouse, a healing space for survivors of childhood sexual abuse, where he illuminated the path for those navigating life’s deepest challenges. His trauma-informed training and experience are evident in his compassionate leadership and his ability to create safe, empowering environments for growth and healing.

Brad is also a LivingWorks Master Trainer for ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training), where he imparts life-saving skills with empathy, precision, and humility. He has worked extensively with marginalized populations, including those affected by trauma, addiction, poverty, and systemic barriers, as well as with newcomer communities striving to build safe and meaningful lives in Canada.

An advocate for education and community service, Brad’s contributions are manifold. He has served as Chair of the Mississauga Library Board, Co-Chair of the Curriculum Committee for Leadership Peel, a Special Friend for Peel Children’s Aid, and a Foster Parent for Puppies for Dog Guides Canada—each role reflecting his unwavering commitment to diverse and inclusive causes. He sits as a Director on the Survivor's Council Canada.

Not merely bound by professional endeavors, Brad’s heart extends to Special Olympics Ontario, where he volunteers with the Alpine Team. His altruism touches many sectors, from education and healthcare to social services, where he collaborates with students, teachers, children’s aid societies, first responders, and businesses. Through stress management, trauma transformation, and fostering joy, Brad’s work catalyzes profound personal growth and cultivates resilience in others.

Surviving cancer twice—once in childhood and again in 2016—Brad’s journey is a testament to his indomitable spirit. On July 19, 2025, he was inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame under the Leading by Example category, a reflection of his lifelong dedication to servant leadership and community transformation.

His four books—Dynamic Balance (2023), The Engaged Mind: Your Creative Call to Action, The Eye of The Storm, and On the Fringes—embody his hard-won wisdom, compassion, and resilience. Brad’s life is not just a resume; it is a symphony of triumphs over adversity, a guide to transformative living, and an unwavering commitment to spreading joy and purpose. His story echoes the profound truth that challenges can be the stepping stones to greatness—and that every chapter is an opportunity for growth, healing, and impact.
