Arthur's Story
In the heart of Arthur's inspiring journey lies a tapestry of leadership, compassion, and transformative impact. As the Chair of The School of Social and Community Services, he sculpted a vision of education as a catalyst for societal change. As a Professor, his commitment went beyond lectures, instilling in students the power of community service.
In 1998, Arthur's vision crystallized into The Gatehouse (thegatehouse.org), a haven for survivors of trauma. He didn't merely lead; he pioneered. Founding the Annual International "Transforming Trauma into Triumph" Conference in 2010 at the Toronto Police College, he created a global platform for healing and resilience. His impact expanded with the creation of the Canada Centre for Transformative Social Change (cctsc.ca) in 2014, a testament to his commitment to societal transformation.

Arthur's passion for change continue to take new forms. In 2022, he founded "The Global Poetry Movement" (globalpoetrymovement.com), a testament to his belief in the profound impact of words. His advocacy for survivors also found expression in his role as a founding member of Survivor Council Canada (survivorscouncil.ca) in the same year, amplifying the voices of those who have endured trauma.

Arthur's literary contributions, co-authoring books like "Community Lost and Found: A Conversation Between Two Dreamers," "Restorative Justice-Transforming Society," and "Human Touch: The Heartbeat of Extraordinary Education," reflect not just knowledge but a profound understanding of the human experience. His reach extends beyond books; he contributes articles for the Canada Criminal Justice Association, bridging academia and real-world impact.

Documentaries became Arthur's canvas for shedding light on the shadows of trauma. "5 Steps, The Gatehouse," "Into The Light and Illuminating Silence," and "Laser Eagles-celebrating capacities of adults labelled disabled" bear testimony to his commitment to amplify marginalized voices.

Recognition became a natural consequence of Arthur's unwavering dedication. From being named among "Canada's Top 50 Champions of Change" to being a nominee for the Order of Canada, his accolades speak of a life dedicated to service. In November 2023, Arthur was bestowed with the Order of Ontario, a testament to his exceptional contributions to the community. As a Paul Harris Fellow, Innovator of the Year, recipient of the Inaugural Distinguished Community Service, and multiple other awards, Arthur's journey is not just a resume—it's an inspiring tale of resilience, compassion, and an unyielding commitment to transforming lives.
